To know for certain, model of the truck will be needed (Freightliners can have the inside the frame rail or outside), and also which air dryer you have... Wabco-Meritor is standard on Freightliners, but Bendix systems can be had if the original purchaser requests it. Removing the canister, I typically use a big pipe wrench. Removing the whole thing, you disconnect the air lines, the unbolt the assembly.. if you can't figure out how to do that just by looking at it, you have no business turning wrenches.

How do you replace Air-conditioner compressor for 2003 Ford Expedition?

The air conditioner/compressor sits on the front passenger side on top of the fender. Remove the water reservoir and then you can disconnect and remove the air compressor. I do not know yet how to remove the air dryer as I cannot see how to remove the air lines from the dryer. I did remove the dryer from the compressor though, by removing a single screw then turning the 1/4 turn and pulling it out of the compressor....so at worst I will be able to put my new compressor in with the old dryer.

Does a ac dryer remove air and non condesables?

An air conditioning (AC) dryer, often referred to as a receiver-drier or accumulator, primarily removes moisture from the refrigerant in the system. It does not remove air directly; however, it does help in trapping non-condensable gases, such as air, that may have entered the system. By filtering out moisture and contaminants, the dryer ensures optimal performance and prevents damage to the AC system.

How does a cold air dryer work to remove moisture from compressed air?
