Excluding small grecerias that have a sandwich deli, any form of convenience store or gas station with food available, grocery stores with restaurants inside, and all fast food chains; i would say there are about 2,400 restaurants in the greater Boston Metropolitan area as delineated by the subway-- minor rails only. I work in the restaurant industry and i can't draw an exact report but this seems fair.
