There are lots of tips, tricks and suggestions out there for corralling the bubbles. Most recommended is a special pressure-withstanding cap just for champagne bottles. You can do that, and/or you can pump out the oxygen, pump in carbon dioxide, place a metal spoon in the neck of the bottle, etc.

Or you can do nothing. Yes, a few years ago the University of California (Davis, I think) did a study on the best way to store open champagne. They tested every possibility and concluded that leaving the bottle open and upright in the refrigerator works as well as anything else. We tried it, agree, and have gratefully stored it that way ever since.

In general, all Champagnes improve with aging. This is especially true with vintage Champagnes. Age Champagne for a few years as long as you have a good place to store it. You shouldn't keep it in the fridge; a wine refrigerator set somewhere in the 50's (F) is ideal. If you don't have a wine refrigerator, next best is a dark, cool closet (light is bad for Champagne and wine in general. The place should be fairly humid because the cork can dry out if it's not humid (which is true for all corked wine). And it should be a place that's free from vibrations such as washing machine, doors opening and closing, etc. If you want to store Champagne, you really need to have these conditions, otherwise there's no sense in storing.

Agree, a wine refrigerator is best for champagne. The recommended storage temperature for champagne is 45 degrees Fahrenheit or 7 degrees Celsius.

Champagne should be stored by the bottle being on its side in a cool dark place such as a cellar. Do not ever store champagne in the freezer as within a couple of hours you would have reuined the sparkle. Hope This Answers your Question

Yes. Champagne tends to taste much better if it has been chilled prior to opening.
