At this point, the information that is already thought to be true is reassessed. This new information or evidence is also assessed. Scientists perform many tests and research both sets of information in an effort to find out where, how, and why, these ideas differ and, if possible, how they can be interrelated. Remember that science is not stable and can be changed as new information is presented and new things discovered.

The current movements in earth's crust also provide evidence that Pangaea could have formed. Most scientists were not given this data and therefore the evidence for Pangaea was vague. Only now has the evidence shown more consistency. Science is skeptical my friend.
