Well there are several ways. One: Get an agent. An agent will have you go on auditions for roles that you are suited for. Two: Look for local things. Look on websites that post open calls in your area. Usually you will be asked to submit information like a headshot and resume and then be called in for an audition. Good luck! Remember you can still get solid work even if you don't live in NY or LA. I have a friend who lives in Iowa and has been in a Disney channel movie and numerous commercials.

It was developed by Heidi Levitt, who is a very well known casting director (just Google her and she'll come up EVERYWHERE). This app also gives contact information for many different agents or managers, as well as do's and dont's of the audition room. Any actor who wants to be successful should download this app!! Or you can visit their website (actorgenie.com) or look them up on twitter. Its probably the most reliable way to find casting calls.

You have to find out about an audition or a casting call, and then try out for the part by having something prepared to read, or cold-reading whatever they give you. Acting lessons are recommended so that you know what you are doing and know how to be aware of the camera or audience. Practicing different emotions and how to get into a part helps as well. If you have an agent, that is another good way to get contacts and into the right places, but you can go and audition for things without an agent in many cases.
