Saguaro are very slow growing cactus. A 10 year old plant might only be 1.5 inches tall. Growth rate depends upon precipitation.
it grows slow i know because i looked at
The Saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) is considered mature at 100-125 years old. Older specimens may attain ages of 200 years or more
The Saguaro Cactus Bloom was chosen as the state flower of Arizona in the year 1931.
Dale S. Turner has written: 'Ten-year resurvey of epidermal browning and population structure of saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) in Saguaro National Park' -- subject(s): Saguaro
Common opinion is that a saguaro grows about an inch to an inch and a half a year, give or take depending on the weather. But there is tremendous variation between individual specimens. One saguaro that is 150 years old might be roughly 150" tall, or about 12 feet while another in a more sunny position or with access to more water might reach 40 feet.
Three (3) feet (0.9144 meters) may be how tall a saguaro cactus plant (Carnegiea gigantea) is after 15 years.Specifically, the saguaro is a slow-grower among plants in general and cactus plants in particular. But it makes up in mature height and longevity for what it lacks in speed! For example, its expected life span may reach 100-200 years. Also, its expected mature height may range from 15 - 50 feet (4.52 - 15.24 meters).
The roots that lie beneath the saguaro's surface soak up as much as 200 gallons of water -- enough to last a year. This is what sustains the saguaro in the dry desert environment.
alot
None! Cacti grow spines instead of leaves.
Fifteen (15) feet (4.572 meters) is how tall a saguaro cactus plant (Carnegiea gigantea) may be after 55 years.Specifically, the saguaro offers an impressive life span and mature height. For example, it may live 100-200 years. Also, it may mature to 15 - 50 feet (4.572 - 15.24 meters) in height. But it takes its time to turn into the favorite "big ole' thing" of desert-dwelling people and wildlife.
Height in 120 yrs = 30 ft. / 75 yrs. [ the height grown per year ] x 120 yrs. 30/75*120 = ( dividing through top and bottom of the fraction, by 15 to simplify, so you can do the math in your head, quickly ) = 2/5*120 = 48
It's impossible to come up with a precise age for a giant saguaro cactus [Carnegiea gigantea]. In fact, guesstimating ages just can't be done regarding any type of cactus. So much depends upon the individual cactus and upon environmental conditions. But a saguaro cactus that has at least one branching arm and that flowers, fruits, and seeds is at least 40 years old. Not one of the preceding activities takes place for a saguaro before that age. Additionally, it tends to reach its mature height of 40 feet/12 meters in around 60 years.
it depends on your growth some people grow faster some grow slow it depends on your health :)
