Disadvantages of socialism in Italy or elsewhere include the fact that it often does not work well for the people. While it should help them, the government often does not have the resources to make it work.
Socialism has nothing to do with race, but with economics. Socialism is concerned with taxing the wealthy to provide welfare to the poor. It does not matter what race a person is, but what wealth they have, that determines their position and duties in a socialist country.

Socialism is a political theory, and the US is a nation, so they are not terribly similar. I will note that the US has been socialist to at least some degree, since the New Deal of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, going back to the 1930's. But the US uses some elements of socialism and some elements of the free market, as it sees fit.
