How soon should you go see a Doctor if the home pregnancy test was positive?

I called to make an appointment the day I had a positive test at home. They will let you know when you should be seen. My doctor didn't see me until I was 8 weeks along, but I did have a nurse visit at 6 weeks to give me paper for lab work and all the basic info about being pregnant.
