when Spiders first come out of their eggshell, sometimes the baby spiders will release a couple of strands of web. they are small enough and light enough so that if a wind blows by, they can sail through the air and ultimately avoid being eaten by their brothers and sisters.

  • Spiders release a strand web into the wind so it will catch on something. They then use that as the beginning of their web.
  • Spiders also release a strand of silk into the wind. When the wind catches it the spiders jump into the air (usually from a branch) and fly through the air to find a new site.
