There has not been very much research on this till quite recently, and findings are tentative.

The Roman Catholic church did not change (much) during the Nazi period. Attempts to control the Evangelical churches and to bully them into becoming part of the "German Christian Movement" (a racial, Nazi version of "Christianity") were not that successful and provoked resistance in the form of the "Confessiong Church". However, the Nazi regime found most Protestants fairly compliant.

The whole issue is complex. Please see the link.

The Nazi regime was able to close down the Catholic political party that greatly impacted the outcome of elections. And it replaced the Catholic Youth organization with the Hitler Youth.
