Disney has different restrictions on different rides, based more on averages than any physical reasons. They probably err on the side of caution, if anything. The notes are mine, based on observations.
According to Disney, you must be at least 40 inches tall to ride Soarin' and Test Track. You must be at least 44 inches tall to ride Mission: Space. All of these are simulators that actually make a lot of adults sick. Dramine is a wonderful thing.
Remember all these measurements include heels and hairdos. If half an inch is going to start a war between siblings, some parents have resorted to heel lifts.
I have seen small children who loved the Tower of Terror and otherwise fearless Teens who refused to ride it. Some people think Mission: Space is the roughest ride at Walt Disney World, others think it's the relatively tame Goofy's Barnstormer roller coaster.
Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
There are five roller coasters at Disney World. The ones with the highest height restrictions are Rock 'n Roller coaster and the Primeval Whirl, which both require that riders be at least 48 inches tall. The requirement for Expedition Everest and Space Mountain is 44 inches, and for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, it's 40 inches.
At the Disneyland Resort, Space Mountain is found in Disneyland.Space Mountain is also found in:Tokyo Disneyland at Tokyo Disney ResortHong Kong Disneyland at Hong Kong Disneyland ResortDisneyland Paris features a related roller coaster called Space Mountain: Mission 2. There is also a Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.
From what I've seen, Magic Mountain is a part of Six Flags. There is a place called Space Mountain in Disney World which opened in January of 1975.
At the Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (a.k.a. Thunder Mountain or Big Thunder), and Splash Mountain At Disney's Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest -- the newest and tallest mountain! At Blizzard Beach: Mount Gushmore
