As plates move, they can create volcanoes in one of two ways.

One is when in the deep ocean, where plates move apart, magma seeps up out of the from the gap left by the plates, and then cools. This is called sea floor spreading.

The other is when the stress of plates push together melts the rock deep in the crust. It fills a chamber with molten rock (called a magma chamber). As the magma chamber grows and hot gases build up, pressure increases. Finally, the gases and magma break the surface and the volcano erupts. However, some volcanoes erupt more violently than others.

what effect do Tectonic plate movement have on death valley?

As the tectonic plates “stretched” the crust, the valley’s basin continuously slipped downwards. This process is far from over, as where tectonic plates move, so is Death Valley gains in size.

Which of a planet's fundamental properties has the greatest effect on its level of volcanic and tectonic activity?

The planet's internal heat is the fundamental property that has the greatest effect on its level of volcanic and tectonic activity. This heat comes from the planet's formation, radioactive decay of elements, and gravitational energy. The internal heat drives the movement of tectonic plates and leads to volcanic activity.

What causes the plates that make up Earth's crust to across Earth's surface?

It is thought that convection currents in the molten layers of the earth are responsible for some of the movement of tectonic plates. The fact that the earth-moon center of gravity, the barycenter, is always within the body of the earth and is always swirling around must have an effect as well, along with general tidal forces.

Burning fossil fuels causes a movement of carbon from the?

burning fossil fuels causes a movement of carbon from the Earth's crust into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide, contributing to the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Which of a planets properties have the greatest effect on its level of volcanic and tectonic activity?

The internal temperature and composition of a planet's core have the greatest effect on its level of volcanic and tectonic activity. A planet with a hot, molten core is more likely to experience frequent volcanic eruptions and tectonic plate movement. Additionally, a planet's size and distance from its star can also influence its geological activity.
