Everyone knew all about gravity on Earth for as long as people knew about anything, but it took Newton to realize that this same force is what keeps the Moon in orbit around the Earth and the planets around the Sun, and was responsible for the tides.

Einstein's (and Newton's) theory have as central features that mass (and energy in Einstein's model) create the effects of gravity, but do not explain (as far as I know) why this must be the case, and why there are not other sources of gravity.

What direction does earth gravitational force act?

The Earth's gravitational force acts towards the center of the Earth.

What is the relationship between Earth and gravitational force?

Earth has gravity or gravitational force that attracts the moon to the Earth.

Does the gravitational force vary with the distance between earth and sun?

The gravitational force between the Earth and sun certainly depends on the distance between the Earth and sun. But the gravitational force between, for example, the Earth and me does not.

Is the gravitational force of earth and moon the same?

No, essentially mass = gravity the earths mass is roughly 81 * that of the moon, if you stood at the same distance from both, the force on you from the earth would be 81 * that of the moon.

What is the gravitational force on the moon?

1.623 newtons per kilogram of mass. That's 16.55% of the gravitational force on Earth.

Why is the gravitational force of earth is significant?

Gravitational force formed the earth and holds all things on its surface - including us!

How does the gravitational force exerted by earth on the sun compare with the gravitational force exerted by the sun on the earth?

The gravitational forces on two objects are equal. You attract the earth with a force equal to your weight. Whatever you weigh on earth, that's exactly how much the earth weighs on you.

What force keeps earth in orbit?

The gravitational force.

What is the gravitational force between the Earth and your body called?

Your weight. Weight is the definition of the force between the earth and other objects. Thus you weight is the gravitational force acting on you from the earth.

What is the force between the earth and a body on earth?

The force between the Earth and a body on Earth is the gravitational force, which is determined by the mass of the Earth, the mass of the body, and the distance between them. This force causes objects to be pulled towards the center of the Earth.
