The Moon is a big ball of dusty rock; it doesn't provide any light of its own. But even though the Moon only reflects about 5% of the sunlight that hits it, the size of the Moon means that it reflects enough light to see.
city lights!
The Sun lights the Moon.
Well the moon doesn't actully form night on earth. It's the rotation of earth on it's axis that makes day and night.
night
It's a matter of perspective. When the Sun sets and it becomes dark, we don't call this an "eclipse", but it is similar; we're in the shadow of the Earth, the Earth's mass is blocking the Sun's light from getting to us. We call it "night". When the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow, we call it a "lunar eclipse", but it's really the same thing as "night on Earth, on the Moon". Just as we have days and nights on the Earth, there are days and nights on the Moon. We don't live on the Moon (yet), so perhaps it isn't so obvious, but half of the Moon are having "daytime" and the other half is having "night". When we look at the Moon, we see that the bright part of the Moon (the part that's easy to see) is having daytime. If you look carefully, you can see the "night" part of the Moon as well; of course, it's night there, so it's dark. And since there are no electric lights or fires on the Moon, the only light the Moon gets at night is reflected Earthlight.
The moon travels in front of the sun out in space so it appears the moon lights up bt really its still the sun
It lights the sky and design with the stars every night....
No. It causes and eclipse, so it is darker, but not actually night time. Like on Earth, night on the moon is when the a part of the Moon is not facing the Sun. A solar eclipse on Earth, which is caused by the Moon casting a shadow on Earth, causes darkness, but not night time. A solar eclipse can only happen during day time.
The sun does not shine in the night. The full moon reflects sunlight to the Earth at night.
The moon lights up because it reflects the sunlight towards the earth. When a side of the moon is shaded in means that this part is not lit up by sunlight
We get day and night because, the Earth spins on it's axis around the sun, when the part of the Earth you live in is facing the sun it is day to you. The Moon orbits the earth, for the moon to orbit the Earth once it takes 28 days, when the Moon is facing the part of the Earth you live on it is night to you. Hope this helped x
