It depends which state of matter you are referring to -- solid, liquid or gas.
Solid: molecules vibrate in place
Liquid: molecules are moving faster than a solid but slower than a gas.
gas: molecules are moving at a high speed
hope this helps :)
There is no phase of matter that has particles that do not move UNLESS the material is a SOLID at a temperature of ABSOLUTE ZERO.
faster
If by particles of matter, you mean atoms, then yes, they do move. Atoms are in constant motion unless they are subjected to absolute zero (0K or -273 degrees C).
When matter undergoes a physical change (like changes in the state of matter), the space between the particles in the matter and how the particles move change.
Liquid State
There is no phase of matter that has particles that do not move UNLESS the material is a SOLID at a temperature of ABSOLUTE ZERO.
faster. and matter then would move slower
faster
They move faster.
plasma
faster
When thermal energy is taken away from matter particles move more slowly. When thermal energy is added to matter particles move faster.
plasma
Solid.
