It has a number of parallel mountain ranges including RasKoh, Siahan, Central Makran. In the northern part of plateau are the valleys of Quetta and Pishin where agriculture is practiced. Balochistan has a number of small rivers. They become active only in rainy season. Important rivers are Hab,Porali,Hingol and Dasht which drain into Arabian Sea. There are also Playa Lakes called Hamuns

Mostly wheat, barley, maize and gram are cultivated here. *Some areas like Islamabad, Jhelum and Chakwal are being developed to encourage high population density which are acceptable by road , rail and air transport.
