4ply is NOT a yarn weight. Many 4ply yarns in the US are worsted weight. DK is a lighter yarn weight.
Yes, the 4ply tissues are sent directly from the angels to heal our souls.
I have 16 balls of Azalea patonised knitting and crochet wool here and when I untwist it it becomes 2 strands....which in reading some of the other things about wool its actually 4 ply....now I am looking for a fairly plain simple knitting pattern to use it on.
If you want your project to be the same size as the directions say, then you need to use the same weight (or thickness) of yarn (rather than number of plies). Sometimes you can get the same gauge by using a bigger or smaller hook, but that doesn't always work.
Try making a sample square in the new yarn, using 28 stitches for every 22 in the original. See how the size compares with the gauge on the pattern, and adjust if necessary. You may also need to put in a few extra rows to achieve the necessary length. Alternatively there are lots of free patterns on the web, try Bev's Country Cottage.
What you need for to crochet is Crochet Hook Size H or bigger Next you need 100% Cotton yarn 4ply you can get some at Walmart or if you hvae a Ben Franklin Craft Store or any kind of place that sells yarn. Now if you are a beginner at crocheting then you need to go to Youtube.com and type in How to crochet. Thanks and have fun Bye:)
