Best left to a gunsmith
The J.C. Higgins Model 30 .22LR rifle typically has a magazine capacity of 5 rounds. However, some variations may allow for different capacities depending on the magazine type used. It's always best to check the specific model and magazine for exact details.
Most of the small Bernadelli pistols use a magazine latch at the bottom rear of the magazine. This will be slightly rounded with grooves in it. WITH YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER, pull back on the magazine latch, and pull down on the magazine. If you are not comfortable with guns, please put it in a box, and take it to a gunsmith. You will NOT be the first person to bring him a gun like that.

I believe there were at least two variations- one used a box type magazine, and the one sitting on my workbench torn down is a tubular magazine. The link below will take you to a photo of the box magazine version.
Those imported into the US with the Browning name (since 1956) have had varnished and later polyurethane stocks. Early guns with the FN markings had oil finish stocks.
It would be best to unscrew it. Use a pair of pliers to take off if tight.
k first off you need the magazine in one hand facing a way from you take the bullet and push down the spring and just put in your bullet ( how to put it in:) put the bullet stright up such as: http://www.eeel.nist.gov/oles/imagesbullet.jpg ,and then push down until you don't see the casing just the bullet and push front words and your bullet should be in your magazine!
