it all depends on how streched your chain is. just tighten so you can fit three fingers from your chain to your swingarm and make sure you set the numbers the same on each side of the tire. but mine is set at 39 on both sides

How tight should the tension be in the chain case for a 1984 Yamaha enticer?

The chain tension for a 1984 Yamaha Enticer should be set to allow about 1/2 to 1 inch of vertical play in the chain when pressed down in the middle. When does timing chain need replacing in Chevy p series van 1979 350 motor?

remove the distributor cap. turn the motor by hand and watch the rotor on the distributor. once it moves turn the motor the other way. if rotor on distributor doesnt move amost imidiately after you start tuning motor by hand the chain has some stretch in it and most likely should be replaced. the motor will run noticably better with a good tight chain. if its a factory chain with nylon gears it is junk anyways. replace it with a quality metal geared set.
