or remove your gas cap and open the valve there
I have heard after 4/1/2002 there are no fuel pressure relief valves not sure its true but that's what I keep finding
Take out the fuel pump fuse and then start the car until it cuts off on its own. After it does cut off, the system is relieved of pressure.

The low pressure port on the 99 Grand am is on the passenger side. It is right against the firewall.
Begin by removing the wiring harness from your 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix transmission pressure solenoid. Remove the solenoid retaining screws. Reverse the process to install your new transmission pressure solenoid.

the low pressure valve is on the passenger side. follow low pressure line and you will see it
No, you do not have to relieve the pressure but if you don't you need to take certain precautions. Look for a Schrader Valve on the fuel rail. It will look like a tire valve. Use that to relieve the pressure. If there is none then remove the fuel cap and relieve any pressure there. Then wrap the connection at the filter with a rag and prepare for a spray of fuel when you break the connection. i recommend safety googles just in case. If you use care and cover the connection with the rag you will be ok. Only a small about of fuel will escape in the spray.
