you will have to have a tool that holds the bearing side of the assembly while you unscrew the nut on the clutch side of the fan. some of the nuts are reversed threads, be sure not to tighten when you should be untightening. Rent the tool for free (deposit you get back whe nyou return the tool) from Advance Auto. Makes the job very easy

On the 1996 Ranger the manual shows to lift the clutch pedal every 5,000 miles to adjust the hydraulic clutch , I don't know if yours is the same
the most common reason for this would be a worn throwout bearing sizing when hot or worn fingers on clutch plate both require removal of transmission to fix
