A computer is loading data when it is turned on and the operating system is being loaded.
Operating systems are being created and improved constantly, so there is not, and will hopefully never be, a "last" operating system.
The software is known as the Operating System, with Microsoft's Windows (propriety), Linux and Ubuntu (free open source) being just three examples of many. Without an operating system (of your choice) the computer would not be able to function.
with the PROMPT command type "prompt text", text being what you want it to say. now, instead of displaying the drive path, it will display what you entered as the text.
booting
Because of the way that operating systems access files, only one program can access a file at once. If a file is being used by another program, or is a system file that is constantly used whilst the operating system is running then the virus scanner can't access it to fix it. A boot time scan is a virus scan that is run before the operating system fully loads up. This means that the virus scanner can have access to all the files on the computer with no chance that they're being used by another program or the operating system. This means it is much more likely to find and fix viruses that have affected critical system files, like the contents of the c:\windows folder on the windows operating system.
Booting up ..! A boot process is a step by step process with which a computer loads the operating system.
os means 'operating system'. This is a pretty common acronym. : dos - disk operating system, ios - iphone operating system, macos etc etc. so you have mentions of os 5, os 6 etc to show which version of the operating system is being referred to.
