How about a broken timing belt. If this car has a lot of miles on it, it is possible that your timing belt broke. It also could be a clogged fuel line. Your timing belt broke. My 95 broke twice on me while driving. Change it religously every 40,000 miles to prevent it from breaking on you. It will take you a couple of hours to do yourself the first time, but only about $20 for the belt.
check the alternator, ignition coil. or even see what the charge at the battery is.
If the voltage supplied DROPS BELOW WHAT IS REQUIRED TO PROPERLY RUN THE IGNITION, YES IT WILL MISS AND QUIT.
Usually when the battery light comes on its the Alternator, or a bad wire from Alternator to battery, but id check Alternator first.
I drove mine today, it was fine while the battery had over 9 or 10 volts, but once the battery died, the car (4WD, mitsu challenger) started driving poorly, and then stopped when I pulled over. Not sure if I did any damage yet. If it is a SI (Spark ignition) engine then you can drive so long as the battery has sufficient charge. A CI (Compression ignition) engine does not rely on an electrical ignition and will drive without the alternator or battery.
Your battery is weak, or your your alternator is not charging battery.
Wires between Alternator and Battery, and between Alternator plug connector and fuse box etc.
Alternator is defective or battery has a dead cell.
Not likely.
your Alternator
If the engine is running, then no. The alternator constantly keeps the battery charged.
The alternator died first and drained your battery shortly thereafter.
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alternator and battery.
