it could be an exhaust leak, a bad plug wire, loose spark plug or a lifter. check the oil.
Try to locate the ticking noise. Is it the engine? Is it ticking when you are driving? When you are sitting still? It could be as simple as a stone stuck in yoru tire, everytime it hits the road it ticks. it could be a lifter in the engine. Try to be more specific as to where and when the ticking happens.
Cant you just ask the people at the car place?
The 3.0L engine had a problem with the lifters that would cause the top end to tick. There is a TSB i believe on how to fix it. If the ticking is coming from the bottom of the engine (sometimes hard to tell) then you might have a Con-Rod knock that starting to show. Eitherway take it to a mechanic for diagnoses.
The ticking noise could be worn out rocker arms under valve covers. Switch to heavier weight oil if ticking noise subsides that could be your problem. This is usually a sign of a high mileage engine. Worst case scenario would be weak oil pump not getting oil to top of heads.
The ticking may be due to any of a number of things, including worn lifters or noisy injectors. Is the ticking louder after the engine warms up? This would point to noisy lifters, since the oil thins slightly as it heats up. Have a reputable mechanic determine where the noise is coming from and whether or not it's anything to worry about.
Could be the bearings/pulley. until you fix the issue you should remove the charger belt, so it doesn't get worse (blow the supercharger).
sell it
It can be a defective CVC-joint or other things. Have it inspected by a qualified mechanic and they will find the cause of the popping noise.
throw out bearing
sounds like a bad lifter, let the dealer fix it as it's under warranty.
I too am having the surging RPM issue but have not recently changed coolent and additionally hear a relay ticking/switching noise near the fuel filter corner of the engine compartment --have you determined the root cause & fix??? VB4tqbooo@yahoo.com
