If you mean on the exhaust manifold, penetrating oil and gently tapping around rod and on ends . Over & over with oil !!

When trunks get older, sometimes the latches get stuck. To fix them a person needs to add oil to the latch to loosen up the parts of the lock and turn the key hard.
From your description it sounds as if the cooling system thermostat needs to be replaced. Sounds like it may be stuck in the open position which doesn't allow the coolant to warm up sufficiently to supply heat to the radiator.
When mine did that, I tried pushing on it a bit and pressing on it while pushing the button.
Try gently tapping in. It is best to just replace it. Its cheap and ez to do
