Plug on the upper side of the transmission. Use only the proper lube as outlined in your owner's manual.
I'd use 90w gear oil..
In the gas tank. Put that piece of crap out of its misery.
you dont put transmission fluid in a manual transmission. you need gear oil, and it should be done by a transmission shop
The GMC Sonoma 2.2 litre manual transmission hold 12 quarts of transmission gear oil. Keep in mind there is a big difference between gear oil and automatic transmission fluid.
Many manual transmissions use ATF instead of traditional gear oil. Perhaps you can drain a small amount to see if it is ATF or gear oil if you do not have the owner's manual.
2.3L of gear oil, Motul Gear 300 or Redline MT-90 or similar, 3 quarts
Fill up the transaxle using the large plug on the front side of the case. When the gear oil begins to overflow it is full.
Most standard transmissions have a fill plug and a drain plug. The fill plug should be found midway on one side of the trans. Check your drivers manual as to what type of fluid goes in there. Many do not use gear oil anymore.
the only place you put gear oil is in the rear end. Look on the differential and on the back there is a large nut, remove it to put in the CORRECT gear oil.
