Lift up the trunk and pull the felt cardboard away from right below the third taillight, and you can get to the lightbulb housings...there are two...from there, the hardest part is finding the bulb size (standard stuff for auto parts stores). Takes all of ten min. tops.
Its located on the brake pedal. Unplug the wiring harness and unbolt it and replace it.

Crawl in the backseat, remove the screws on each side of the housing, pull off the light replace the bulb and re-install! Good Luck!
I found under the drivers dash on the brake pedal the brake light switch to be faulty. It can operate the tail lights but not the center brake light replace it. This was the case on my 90 vette.
I believe the brake light switch is at the base of the brake pedal. However, it takes a special tool usually to remove and replace it. It is a cheap part, easy labor, and worth the payment to a professional if they will do it for under $20.00 or so. You can strand yourself if you can't get the replacement on correctly. Mary
