∙ 18y agoWith engine off. Turn key to on. Press accelerator fully three times. This should reset light.
This light has to be reset by the person doing the oil change. It is not automatic when the oil is changed.
This is how to reset the "CHANGE OIL" light for a 96 Impala SS: 1. Turn the key to the "RUN" position with the engine OFF. 2. Push and release the gas pedal three times within five seconds. 3. Wait for the "CHANGE OIL" light to flash two times as a confirmation that the system has been successfully rest. If the "CHANGE OIL" light comes on and stays lit for five seconds, the system has NOT been reset. Therefore, you must repeat steps 1 & 2.
There is nothing to reset except the radio presets and the clock.
Listed in detail in your owner's manual. Don't have one then you need to get one.
Use an OBD scan tool to reset or disconnect the battery
What's my issue
try turning key on (don't start) then pump gas to floor 6 times, light should flash then go out (works with many chevy's, but not sure about Impala)
See {How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System} on page 5-21 of your "Owner's Manual", under Section 5: Service and Appearance Care.....
go to auto zone they will do it for you
The ABS light is on because there is a problem with the system. Until the problem is fixed the light will remain on. Once the problem is fixed the light will reset itself.
Turn the key to the run position and depress the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times in 5 seconds. The light will blink and then go off.jd
