You will need to collect ink ribbons which are hidden throughout the game. When you wish to save, find a typewriter and it will allow you to do so. Note that saving the game will consume one ink ribbon. Since there are limited amounts of ink ribbons in the game, you can only save a limited amount of times. Therefore you must be careful to avoid using them all up.
As far as I know I've only heard of one. Which is called Deadly Silence. It is another remake of esident Evil 1 yet it has the same PlayStation/Nintendo 64 polygon graphics.
