One possible reason for this could be that your computer is overheating and has to shutdown every now and then. I suggest you get it checked by a computer technician.

Also scan your entire system for any viruses or so.

Well also another possible reason is that your computer may have alot of dust clogged up where the air is suppose to get out which causes the hot air to stay in your computer which will overheat and shut down. I suggest you go to a computer technician and let him take a look at it

Sometimes this is a safety precaution. The Cpu has been notified by the hard drive that a possible infection has just occurred or a system failure is prominent. The computer instantly shuts down the usual way, but by it self and is a sign you need to get your drives checked for viruses. You should back up your Drives onto portable drives and see the computer to a technician. Another reason is due to overheating. When at high temperatures, data doesn't flow as fast as it would when cold. The computer automatically shuts down to prevent excess data loss and hardware damage. Try installing a program called speccy. That will let you know the different temperatures and speeds and other information about the computer. You can tell what part of the computer is at the highest temperature and either a new fan , or an internal clean out with an anti static wrist bracelet should help.

Computers can sometimes shut down by themselves because of an update. If it doesn't do it again then you likely have nothing to worry about.
