The first step is to make sure that you have active and up to date Antivirus software running on your PC some viruses will destroy the ability of the antivirus and the computer to receive updates from the manufacturers. I personally have had good luck using the free program Spybot Search & Destroy. You need to be careful because some other programs try to look like they are the same as this application but they are actually "scamware" that will try to charge you money after "finding" hundreds of false problems with your PC.
