Check your fuses! If they're all good I would next check the wireing on your stereo. I had a loose wire once back there and it made my instrument cluster's lights not work when I had the headlights on and I had to guess my speeds at night.
replace the fuse box for the parking breaks located behind the pedals
check for blown light bulbs ,then check for broken wire at lights
The instrument panel lights are controlled by the same fuse as the tail lights which is a 15 amp fuse located in the panel in the engine compartment adjacent to the battery. The fuse is only labeled for the tail lights.
There is another fuse box under the hood and next to the battery. This fuse controls the horn, dashboard lights, and the tail lights.
In the fuse box...it will be labeled panel, or cluster , if the fuse is okies its the light switch. What if it is only half of the lights on the instrument panel that are out? Just the cold/hot dial and 5 buttons?
well then get a real American car and not an import ford is the best
how to trouble shoot for gmc back up lights?
I located the instrument panel illumination lights on my 1990 Nissan D21 Pick-up by removing the clear plastic panel that protects the gauges and pulling the instrument panel forward. To do this, screws must be removed from the dash panel located around the instrument panel. There are also screws securing the clock adjustment knob and the glass/instrument panel itself. The bulbs twist into the backside of the instrument panel. There are several of them.
