In the book of Mark chapter 6 verses 1 through 6 you can read of His teachings in the synagogue. The people were astonished saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are preformed by His hands!" And at the same time they(the people) were offended at Him because they knew Him as the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas,And Simon. They also knew His sisters. Thus, it seems there was a degree of ambiguity about how they received him. It says elsewhere that the common people heard Him gladly. Yet we are also told in one place that people withdrew and 'walked no more with Him.' A number of times it also indicates that many were afraid of the Pharisees who had declared that anyone who believed in Him would be put out of the synagogue. Yet, in all this it is clear that He enjoyed, at least at times a high degree of popularity and interest, since there always seemed to be crowds that followed Him. In places we are told that people were seeking Him for healing and that many miracles were done by Him. In relation to His popularity, it is recorded in several places that his is one of the reasons the leaders sought to kill Him -they were jealous of His popularity. Pilate was apparently aware that 'they had delivered Him for envy.'

Jesus Christ was perceived by people in many ways. During his life on earth, however, most perceived him as a troublemaker. He was eventually killed because of incorrect perceptions.

What does BC represent?

B.C as in 'years', means "Before Christ" and A.D. means "anno Domini", which is latin for "Year of our Lord". It is due to the "Gregorian Calendar" we use today. So, if Jesus was perceived to have been born in year 1, we are currently 2008 years later, hence 2008 A.D. Also note that time B.C. (Before Christ) runs backwards from the perceived birth of Christ, so the year before he was born was 1 B.C. ten years before is 10 B.C., a thousand years 1000 B.C. and so on.
