Julius Caesar

Do you really think that a person that takes over and controls your life is a hero? Julius Caesar is evil! He killed, enslaved, and robbed the Gauls. Took over Rome, became dictator by force! He's a villain!

Yeah he gave land, reduced taxes, and gave citizenship; but he only did those acts to become more reliable! The only reason that his army honored and respected him is because he bribed them with the money that he stole from the Gauls. I see Julius Caesar as a stubborn, stuck up, disrespected, person that only cares about himself. Not to mention that he's an outlaw.

He was a great man who wished to end the corruption of the Roman nobility so the Senate could be made from the best men of Rome, not simply the most wealthy.

He forgave all those who fought against him in the civil war, created laws to protect the Plebeians from the Patricians and Equestrians, he rewarded the most qualified people of Rome regardless of class and always erred on the side of mercy .

He never took any powers that were not awarded legally and intended to return Rome to a republic when the old corruption and oppression had been cleansed from the Senate.

He was the greatest liberator of the people before the modern age and for that the was branded a Tyrant and murdered by the old republican Senators who hated giving freedoms to the Plebeians and feared Caesar was becoming a king.

It's difficult to label a real-life person, like you would do with a character in a story (and oftentimes, it's hard to discern who's bad and who's not there, too).

Caesar definitely had a lot of positive traits. He was determined, brave, and had outstanding military achievements. But he was also lead by his own interests, was extremely proud, sometimes cruel, and had an awful great number of mistresses.

yes he did many bad things he slept with Cleopatra and had a baby with her and he abandon his citizens while he went to war for 5 years and he always wanted to make himself king and Romans thought kings where nasty

Julius Caesar was "bad" because he caused great pain to many people. He was extremely cruel! He also did some good.

Julius Caesar was the first dictator of Rome. Before that Rome was a Republic.

Julius Caesar (100-44 BC) was never a bad or evil person, but he was ambitious, and sometimes ruthless. After he fought the Roman Senate and its allies, he became the de facto ruler of Rome. After he declared himself "perpetual dictator" of Rome, some officials feared his popularity would reduce the power of the Senate, and assassinated him on March 15, 44 BC. This was a common way to eliminate rivals in the Roman Empire, but it invariably led to retribution against the perpetrators. Caesar increased in popularity after his death, and was actually deified in 42 BC.
