Metis, a forest nymph fell in love with Jupiter and Metis became pregnant. And someone gave them a prophecy that if a son was born, that son would overthrow Jupiter. So out of fear, Jupiter decided to eat Metis so that a son would never be born.
After 9 months, Jupiter had a terrible headache. Knowing he was immortal and he wouldn't die, he asked Vulcan, the god of blacksmiths to crack his head open. When the deed was done, Minerva sprung out, fully armed.
