Which Pantheon he really belongs in may remain subject to debate even 200 years after the fact. Perhaps he was a good man capable of villainous actions or a great man subject to human frailty. Or perhaps he was in fact a villain who was inspired by moments of historic greatness.

He poisoned his own troops who had contacted Bubonic Plague, but he could hardly return them to France to spread the plague.

He allowed pillage and plunder by his troops.

He probably killed prisoners.

He allowed torture to obtain information about his enemies.
