He didn't Jonah ran away from god. god told noah to build the ark.
God and Jesus are the most recognized historic figures in Christianity. Other historic figures include, Adam and Eve, Noah, and Moses.
Sometimes God would talk to him directly. Noah talked to Him like we do/can.

For the length of time they were on the Ark, many prayers would have been offered for their safety. It is not doubt that much fasting was also done as the two are in accordance with giving thanks to God for their safety.
