Nobody knows, partially because many historians are not sure Shakespeare was just one person because the writings attributed to him vary so greatly in both style and substance.

Also, there is no contemporary writings, (or any other evidence), of who he was, how or even where he lived.

But this is all just speculation for the most part, interested istorians admit.
