Robert Boyle in 1662; rediscovered in 1676 by Edme Mariotte.
Robert Boyle is known as the father of modern chemistry. He is an Irish philosopher who contributed in the field of chemistry and physics. Robert Boyle is famous for BoyleÕs Law of Ideal Gases.
boyle
Boyle's law is named after the scientist Robert Boyle, an Irish natural philosopher, chemist, physicist, and inventor. He discovered the relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas at constant temperature.
Robert Boyle did not invent Boyle's Law. He was a scientist who discovered the relationship between pressure and volume of a gas, which later became known as Boyle's Law. This law states that the pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to its volume, when the temperature is constant.
Oxygen was discovered for the first time by a SwedishChemist, Carl Wilhelm Scheele, in 1772.

In a series of experiments with his friend Richard Towneley, Henry Power discovered the relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas that later became known as Boyle's Law. This relationship was outlined in "Experimental Philosophy," but Robert Boyle, after discussing the theory with Towneley and reading a pre-publication manuscript of Experimental Philosophy, cited the hypothesis as the sole work of Richard Towneley. Boyle's mention of the theory preceded the publication of "Experimental Philosophy" by one year. That, combined with Boyle's promotion of the idea and his significant status as a nobleman scientist ensured the theory's moniker of "Boyle's Law." The French physicist Edme Mariotte discovered the same law independently of Boyle in 1676, but Boyle had already published it in 1662. Thus this law may, improperly, be referred to as Mariotte's or the Boyle-Mariotte law. In Summary: Henry Power Richard Towneley Robert Boyle -----------> Published his theory first, so it is named after him. Edme Mariotte

In a series of experiments conducted in 1660s, Boyle discovered that if some quantity of gas (at constant temperature) was subjected to increased pressure, its volume would decrease. Hence, the Boyle's Law. Boyle also noted that since gas can be compressed, it should therefore have been made up of tiny particles. And he also said, screw you dylan narvadez.
The Volume of a fixed gas is inversely proportional to the pressure it sustains. by the same token, the temperature of a gas is directly proportional to the pressure, heat and pressure work in tandem. Discovered by Robert Boyle some time in the l600"s
