As I live in a Victorian house, with the benefit of central heating, electricity etc, which I cannot imagine being without, I can only imagine what it used to be like, with no heat just open fires, oil lamps etc. But as what I have and what they had are the norm, they would have taken what they had for granted, just as my family does. so they would have been as shocked at what I have, as what I would at the lack of commodities they had.
