∙ 13y agoSpartan boys practiced Martial Arts constantly and were trained as soldiers unless they were too weak, in which case they would be placed on a hill to die.
Girls were trained to be strong as well, to give birth to strong children; otherwise they carried out normal female chores and duties as most women had to do.

At age 12, they had their clothing taken from them except for a red cape; and forced to forage for food. If they were caught stealing food, they were whipped. They were hazed by other Spartans to keep them tough.
