This is the biblical way of saying that a person cannot stop his sinful desires and actions. Before a person becomes a christian the bible says he is a slave to sin. The devil is keeping him in chains. It is only Jesus that can free a person and change him so that he will no longer act out those sinful thoughts and desires

I found this Bible verse to always be the most appropriate for a wedding: "Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, ' for she was taken out of man." For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh."
