They fought with Australia as the result of a commitment that they felt they had towards Britain. the aim was to establish a beach head at Gallipoly from where they would be able to push inland. the problem was that they were led by English incompetents that as a result of the British class system saw the men (all volunteers) dieing there as no more then expendable meat, especially as they were from the colony's.

The reason Australia was involved in the Gallipoli campaign was because as a member of the british empire it was Australia's duty to help out in this time of need.
