Silicon was discovered (officially) in 1824 by Jöns Jacob Berzelius (probably because he also purified the product by repeatedly washing it.).

BUT, also note:

1. In 1787, silicon was first identified by Antoine Lavoisier.

2. In 1811, Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac and Louis Jacques Thénard probably prepared impure amorphous silicon through the heating of potassium with silicon tetrafluoride. Then in 1824, Berzelius used approximately the same method as Lussac.

In 1824, Silicon was isolated and described as an element by Jons Jacob Berzelius, a Swedish chemist. In 1811, an impure forum of Silicon was obtained. In 1854, Crystaliine silicon was produced by using electrolysis.
