Mission Santa Clara was destroyed several times. the first time it was damaged by the Guadalupe River overflowing its banks, then an earthquake, and finally a fire which was caused by faulty wiring in the northern bell tower (there were two bell towers at the time)

The Santa Clara de Asis Mission in California was damaged by an earthquake in 1818 and later extensively restored in the 1930s to its current form. Additionally, the mission suffered deterioration over time due to weathering and natural decay, but ongoing preservation efforts help protect this historic site.
