Mexico has seen numerous revolts over its long and sometimes sad history. The "Cry of Dolores or Grito de Dolores" was an 1810 popular revolt of the Mexican people against Spain that became the Mexican War of Independence, It was based on the social Caste System instituted by Spain between the Spanish born and the Mexican born and on the percentage of bloodline an individual had that was Native American. The Spanish born were at the top of the heap and the Native Americans were at the bottom. At the helm of this revolt was the Catholic Priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.

It wasn't. The Mexican Revolution (1910-1921) was the result of president Porfirio Diaz, by then almost a dictator who had stayed in power for over 30 years, to jail his main rival during the 1910 elections to prevent him from winning.
