Why must chemistry become the astronomy of the molecular world?

Just as astronomy mapped the solar system and universe, chemistry actually has already become the "astronomy of the molecular world." Scientists used macroscopic manipulation of chemicals in the laboratory to learn about and understand the microscopic world of the atom and molecule in the nineteenth century.
