Water changes the earths surface by it running across the land and picking it up and carrying away. The faster the water the more erosion. Erosion is the picking up and carrying away of rock material.
The two spheres that are responsible for erosion are the hydrosphere and the atmosphere. These spheres interact all of the time.
Runoff, which is when excess water flows across the land surface, can cause erosion as it picks up and carries away soil and sediment. This process can be intensified by factors like steep slopes, deforestation, or urbanization, leading to increased erosion and sedimentation in water bodies.
Both cause erosion.

The cause of erosion is due to the pressure exerted by wind , flowing water, glaciers , gravity etc. which prize apart the land.
The three main things that cause erosion are water, wind, and ice. Water erosion occurs from rivers, rainfall, and waves, while wind erosion happens when wind displaces soil and sediment. Ice erosion occurs through processes like glaciers moving over land.
Runoff refers to the flow of water over the surface of the land after precipitation, which can lead to erosion. Sheet erosion is the process where a thin layer of soil is removed uniformly from a large area by the action of water flowing over it. In essence, runoff can cause sheet erosion as the water moves across the land.
Weathering and erosion cause exposed land to change.
