Best Answer

During WWI and WWII two many of them were shot.

In addition, following WWI (at the direction of Winston Churchill and his helpers) many of them starved or died from malnutrition as a result of an Allied Good Blockade aimed at civilians as well.

Was germanys military reduced to 250 000 men?

You really need to say what time you are asking about. After World War 1 Germany was officially allowed only 100,000 men in the army, 15,000 in the navy and no airforce at all. After World War 2 the German armed forces were dissolved but re-established (within NATO) in 1955. The settlement of 1990, which allowed for German reunification but was also a peace treaty, set an upper limit of 360,000 on Germany's armed forces.
