Medieval people did get treats and snacks. Poor laboring people got snacks often, though not sweets, because they needed food to be able to work. People who could afford them ate fruits, including dried fruits and raisins. Wealthy people got desserts, including a variety of pastries and cakes. People are not going to die, that was just in the movie 2012! (world end) I think people are going to become way more intelligent, realize different things and able to see the dead!
Yes, churches instructed the people. One of the reasons for stained glass with people in it (as opposed to more modern versions with just blocks of color) was to remind people of the stories from the bible. People did not have access to bibles and wouldn't have been able to read them anyway. They were, for the most part, illiterate so priests (one of the few groups of people educated in Medieval times) had to teach the people.
The pros are that these people will be better able to function in society.
